Richard Payton fell in love with acting when he got his first laugh in the fourth grade playing Cookie in Going West. From that moment, he pursued his passions for the theater, singing in choirs, school plays, forensics and youth theater. Richard pursued acting into college and earned a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. He has been seen on the stages of The Ringwald Theatre, Planet Ant, Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company, The Two Muses Theatre, Thunder Bay Theatre, Syracuse Stage and The Music Hall Center for Performing Arts in Detroit. Richard is grateful and honored to be a part of the Slipstream Initiative.
Richard would love to have you over sometime to share some homemade pizza he slaved over in his tiny kitchen. And yes, that burn is from the broiler. But if that's not to your liking, he can just make you soup, though the kitchen will still be tiny. "I'm so excited to be a part of the Slipstream Theatre Initiative. We're breaking new ground in so many areas, eg., content, format and outreach. We're bringing a unique experience that you will be unable to find elsewhere, and that's what theater is all about."
Richard is also a proud, card carrying nerd. He would love to talk to your ear off about Star Trek, and if that doesn't interest you, he'd love to engage you in discourse over his unofficial title of being the Grammar King.
