Actor and Fight Choreographer
Steve Xander Carson was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area. It wasn't until high school the theatre bug latched on. It began with him helping to build and paint the sets. His friends coerced him into auditioning the following fall. A Piece of My Heart was the show, it was invited to the National Theatre Conference for high schools and brought veterans to tears. This is where he first learned of the intimacy and power of theatre. He continued his education at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, after a year returned home and completed his BFA at Wayne State University. He developed a love for physical theatre, specializing in stage combat and aerial work. He has trained with the Society of American Fight Directors in stage combat, and the Detroit Flyhouse Circus School in silks and trapeze.
Since graduating he has consistently worked around the area with the Abreact Theatre, Magenta Giraffe, the Ringwald, City Theatre, Two Muses, and Water Works Theatre Company. He has also founded a company of his own, Nerve, founded with Kathe Koja specializing in immersive performative fiction. Choose your own adventure, the story is personal. That's what attracted Steve to Slipstream. We bring the classics to a fresh audience. Dust them off the shelf, and present them for a new progressive, personal audience. Take what you will from it, love it, hate it, it's up the viewer to decide, but they will still have been affected by our work. We're bringing a new audience to the theatre a more active, restless group and we will keep them on the edge of their seats. Detroit is the perfect stage for this, the prices are low, the quality is high, and the audience (as well as the ensemble) is ambitious. Come play with us
